Louise T. Bertacchi

Founder

Women’s Hall of Fame

Louise Bertacchi founded the Cumberland County Women’s Hall of Fame in 2007. She believed the extraordinary contributions of local women should be honored and celebrated.

She gathered together diverse group of women to help formulate the plan, and she set up a Board of Directors, a board she would lead for the next 16 years as President.  Under her leadership,  that first Board developed all the procedures needed to solicit and elect women to the Hall, and the first Induction Ceremony was held in April 2009 when four women were honored.

Since then, 48 women from communities throughout Cumberland County have been so honored. At tonight’s event, the 12th induction, three women will be added to the Hall of Fame. These women were elected for induction in 2020 but due to COVID, the induction ceremonies were not held in 2020, 2021, or 2022. With this group, 51 Cumberland County women have been honored for their enduring contributions due to Louise’s vision and leadership.

The Hall of Fame Board of Directors is grateful for the indelible mark Louise Bertacchi has made with her legacy project, the Women’s Hall of Fame, and for all the women of the future whose lives and work will be immortalized because of Louise Bertacchi.
